British Values
Promoting Fundamental British Values
In accordance with Department for Education guidance, all schools are required to actively promote fundamental British values to ensure pupils leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. These values are a key part of our school’s spiritual, moral, social, and cultural (SMSC) development.
Pupils are encouraged to treat people of all faiths, cultures, races and beliefs with respect and tolerance; to understand that while individuals may hold different views about what is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, everyone in England is subject to the law.
The fundamental British values are:
- Democracy
- The rule of law
- Individual liberty
- Mutual respect
- Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs
